First Annual Membership meeting for the National Council on Interpreting in
Health Care (NCIHC) in Chicago, IL
Members of the
NCIHC gathered in Chicago, IL on June 30th and July 1st for the
First
Annual Membership Meeting. Erin Rosales, Director of Interpreter
Development for
Connecting Cultures, Inc. attended the meeting along with
health care interpreters, language access administrators, and other industry
stakeholders representing 22 states from as far away as New York and California.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss critical issues currently facing the
industry of healthcare interpreting.
Topics included Certification of
healthcare interpreters, Dual-Role interpreters, Training, and Policy &
Research. Small group discussions were held on each of the topics and the fruits
of those discussions will be used by the NCIHC to advance the professional
formation of the healthcare interpreting industry
Providing interpreting and process solutions for the health care
industry.
